During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return.
So yeah, I have to be honest with you. I just love space and anything related to it. Thus it is self-evident that I was stoked about The Martian and I definitely wasn’t let down. First off, the story was great. I found it quite renewing and I can’t think of any movie telling quite the same story. Secondly, the acting was pretty good as well. I am not the greatest fan of Matt Damon in general, though it’s probably just me, but I really liked him in this role. In the end, I don’t really have anything bad to say about this work by Ridley Scott and all I have left to say is: “The Martian is a must-see”.
The Martian is the latest movie from acclaimed director Ridley Scott. This time around, we are presented with a fascinating story about survival on a deserted planet. I had high hopes for this movie because Ridley Scott made some of the best Sci-Fi movies ever with 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner'. What we got is no different. The Martian is an instant classic and one of the best movies of 2015. The story isn't only exciting and smart, but also surprisingly funny. Despite a strong supporting cast, make no mistake, this is Matt Damon's Oscar worthy performance. Altogether, there wasn't really a major flaw to find. Definitely a must watch.
With The Martian Ridley Scott proves us all once again why he is the master of science fiction. Once again he delivers a gorgeous movie that is a combination of pretty much any emotion you can put into a movie. At times it is funny and then suddenly it is sad and then after a minute or 10 it gets a happy twist. Furthermore, the story is supported by great acting performances all around, especially from Matt Damon. However we can hear you saying to yourself: “What about the flaws?” Well, we can assure you, you won’t notice any. All-in-all, The Martian is one of the best Sci-Fi movies of the last decade and it surely is a must watch.
