An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
Mad Max: Fury Road is the long awaited 4th installment of the Mad Max franchise, albeit without Mel Gibson as our main protagonist. I was always a fan of the first 2 Mad Max movies and had my doubts about a sequel; would a new Max work, was George Miller too old to direct it,... Gladly, I can say that my doubts were completely wrong. Not only did we get an amazing action movie, it might just be one of the best action movies of the last decade. Most of the problems some might have with Fury Road is the plot, which mostly resolves around Furiosa instead of Max and there isn't much plot to be seen. However, that didn't bother me when you compare it to the action you are seeing. You should definitely see this.
First off, I would like to point out that I do have to give Mad Max: Fury Road some credit. This, mostly because of the technical effort put into it. So to start off with, the costume design was great. The characters were very nicely crafted and they were pretty on point for the purpose of the movie. Secondly, the acting was great and very immersive and lastly the practical effects were executed way better than most films out there. However, all this does not mean I was stoked about Mad Max. Personally I am not the greatest fan of the story which resulted in me not liking the movie as much as others. You may or may not like the movie depending on the story but as I said before the technical effort put into Mad Max is undeniable.
Mad Max: Fury Road is most likely the best action centric movie of 2015. Form the exhilarating car chases to the breathtaking post-apocalyptic world. Every technical point you can think of, from costume creation to set design, is on point. Furthermore, the acting performances were great with Furiosa, surprisingly stealing the show. Though, Mad Max is not for everyone. If you're not a fan of action centric films or if you're looking for a deep and elaborate plot, Fury Road is probably not your flick. For the rest however, Mad Max is one to watch.
