Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel-all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
Into the woods, a new adaptation of a couple of fairy tales written down by the brothers Grimm, fell a bit short. The first two thirds of the story was quite interesting and could keep me watching, but from then on it just went downhill. So overall the story really wasn’t amazing. As a musical type movie, I'd also expect great soundtracks and lyrics, but yet again they just fell short a bit for me. The acting performances however were quite good but not mind blowing either.
Into the Woods is an adaptation of the Broadway play by the same name. It tells the story of some of the most beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales with a twist. There is Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and others. The movie is pretty solid most of the time but the final third of the movie is very lacking. The pacing isn't all that great either. The best part of this movie is definitely the acting, especially from Meryl Streep as the witch and Emily Blunt as the Baker's wife. If you like musicals you should definitely give Into the Woods a shot, otherwise you can skip it.
Into the woods, the new adaptation of the Broadway play, which goes by the same name, tells the story of some of the most well-known Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The story is pretty solid for the most part, but the third act is not even close to being on par with the preceding acts. Another story related issue is the pacing, which isn’t great either. The best part about the movie were the acting performances, with some outstanding performances by Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. The musical aspect however fell a bit short, especially for the musical fans out there.
