Doctor Strange

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilising a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As many of you may already know, I am (we are) big Marvel fans and thus, we couldn't miss out on "Doctor Strange". Now I am happy to say that "Doctor Strange" was most definitely a lot of fun to watch. The story was very good with really only 1 major flaw, being the "main" villain as he, in my opinion, did not get enough development and he was a little uninteresting for the most part. Sadly, this issue comes forward in almost every Marvel backstory movie, but we are hopeful to see some more interesting villains in upcoming films especially those who boast a multitude of characters instead of just 1. I also want to mention that "Benedict Cumberbatch" did an amazing job at portraying Strange as he really made the character come alive, though we have become used to this kind of character casting from Marvel as their actors usually fit their characters like butter. Lastly, I don't want to forget the other actors as they all did a fine job at portraying their character. All-in-all I loved "Doctor Strange" and I think it will be a blast for pretty much anyone, even if you are not specifically a fan of Marvel.

As a Marvel fan, I've been looking forward to seeing Doctor Strange on the big screen for a while now. Marvel's track record and the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular hero made me very optimistic and I'm glad that I can say "Marvel did it again". Doctor Strange is just a blast to watch from start to finish. While the story is pretty straight forward, the visual effects were everything but that. This might just be one of the best vfx I've ever seen. Some props are also necessary for the 3rd act of the movie, which was fantastic. All the actors did a great job, especially Benedict Cumberbatch who was perfectly cast. However, no movie is perfect and "Doctor Strange" is no exception. The villain, like with many other Marvel movies, wasn't all that interesting and some of the training felt a bit rushed. However, don't let these negatives stop you from seeing "Doctor Strange" as it is one hell of an unforgettable trip.

#great 3.5

"Doctor Strange" comes out to be the 14th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there are no signs of slowing down as this entry is yet another smash hit. Marvel took the liberty and the courage to show all the weirdness associated with Doctor Strange and they went all out with the story, which makes it a fun one to watch all the way to the end. The biggest problem we had with the story was the main villain, who was pretty generic and uninteresting. An unfortunate "disease" in many of Marvel's latest films we hope to see tackled in future stories. Secondly the story also suffered a bit from some rushed moments, especially during the training scenes. Important to note as well is that pretty much all the actors, especially Benedict Cumberbatch, did an amazing job at portraying their characters and we can't wait to see more of them in the future. Lastly we have to give a special mention for the special effects, which are a true spectacle to behold and a "psychic trip" all the way through. Overall, we would recommend "Doctor Strange" to everyone, even non Marvel fans.
