Well I can’t deny it, Ant-Man was pretty bad ass (even though insects kind of give me the creeps in real life). As we have come to expect from Marvel, we were presented with a great mix of humor, story and action. The humor blended in very well with the story and the action and it really knew how to make me laugh at times. Storywise, I was pleasantly surprised, since I kind of wanted to see Hank Pym as Ant-Man instead of Scott Lang. Though I have to admit, Scott (or Paul) was a pretty good Ant-Man. I could even say I have come to like the story of Scott Lang quite a lot, but I can’t deny I am still hoping for some Hank Pym action somewhere down the road (maybe in a prequel). I do also want to note that the acting performances were pretty good, at least from most of the cast. I didn’t really like the portrayal of the villain, as well as the villain itself actually. Yellowjacket as seen in the movie seems kind of bland to me in comparison to the story we see in for example the animated series. Altogether, I really enjoyed watching Ant-Man and it was a great movie overall.

Ant-Man is the final movie of Phase 2 in the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe', also known as MCU. The story this time around is on a way smaller scale than any of the other movies in its genre, but it still has enough thrills and action to keep everybody satisfied. Besides being a good action movie, it's also very funny. You'll find yourself smiling all the way through, especially due to Michael Peña's amazing performance. This doesn’t mean the other actors weren’t good though. Paul Rudd is perfectly cast as our titular hero, Michael Douglas shows us again why he won 2 Oscars and I could go on and on about the rest of the cast. Despite this, the movie isn't without its flaws though. The villain, while working in the movie, is kind of forgettable like some of his Marvel counterparts. The plot also reminded me a lot of the story that we saw in the first Iron Man. Altogether, I can still say that Ant-Man is a blast to watch and yet another hit from Marvel.

@Conclusion

Ant-Man is the latest installment in the superhero genre from Marvel Studios, though Ant-Man kind of stands out from the pack. This time around we aren’t presented with one of the really big superheroes out there, but instead we get a smaller scale superhero (see what I did there?). However, you shouldn’t take this the wrong way, the movie is definitely on par with the other Marvel films we have come to like over the past couple of years. Just like most of the other installments, it is a mix of exciting action and comedy and both were really good separately but together they are even better. Though it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The villain for example is pretty forgettable and bland. The Yellowjacket in the film doesn’t really have a compelling story when you compare it to some of the comics for example. Luckily, the cast has done a great job at portraying their characters from an acting point of view, which is always nice to see. All this adds up to a fun and satisfying origin story of a pretty unknown character. We can recommend this one for both young and old.
